GTA VI: The Album, the official album with 34 original songs produced with Atlantic Records, releases on November 19, 2026, the same day as the game. Rockstar ties the album to the evolution of the in-game radio stations and the first dynamic score it has announced for the series.

What you steal in GTA VI travels in duffel bags and only becomes spendable money when you sell it to the right fence, specialized by category like cars or jewelry. Since fences unlock through the story, you can pile up valuable loot before you can sell it.

The updated GTA VI store listings on PlayStation and Xbox reveal the pre-order bonus name: The Vintage Vice City Pack. The fine print requires buying the game before November 19, 2026 at 23:59:59 to receive it.

Trailer 2 is soundtracked by “Hot Together” (1986) by The Pointer Sisters. Jason’s car radio also plays snippets of “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” by Wang Chung, “Child Support” by Zenglen & 5 Etwal and “Talkin’ To Myself Again” by Tammy Wynette.

When the six-month delay of GTA VI was announced in November 2025, parent company Take-Two Interactive lost $3.75 billion in share value in just 24 hours. Few single-game announcements have ever moved that much money.

According to Rob Nelson, Rockstar’s co-studio director, in GTA VI you can deliberately fire near a pedestrian to scare them and buy time without hurting anyone: warning shots are a heist tool, not an accident.

The Dodo, the series’ classic plane since GTA 3, returns in GTA VI as an amphibious aircraft: it can land on water, making it a key vehicle for crossing a state full of coastline, swamps and keys. Strauss Zelnick explained why Rockstar premiered Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look with Netflix: it was not just a long trailer, but a way to teach people how to play. The 26-minute piece detailed the gameplay two months before launch.

The physical box of GTA VI includes a download code instead of a disc. It is the first numbered entry in the series whose physical edition does not ship the game on an optical format: you buy the box, but the game downloads just like the digital version.

Trailer 2’s song, “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters, has a comedy sci-fi past: it already appeared in “Spaceballs” (1987), Mel Brooks’ parody, and in the buddy cop film “Stakeout”.

On the day GTA VI: The Album was announced, visits to Keith Richards’ Spotify artist page jumped 1,200%. At 82, the Rolling Stones guitarist grew more than anyone else on the lineup, well ahead of Morgan Wallen (168%), Rauw Alejandro (96%) or Travis Scott (93%).

One of the first six singles from GTA VI: The Album is “Bright Lights, Big City” sung by Keith Richards: a Rolling Stone covering Jimmy Reed’s 1961 classic for a video game. It is among the album’s most unexpected collaborations.

The official pre-order announcement describes GTA VI as a single-player experience arriving November 19, 2026, with no mention of any online mode at launch. It is the first numbered entry in the modern series to ship its campaign without multiplayer on day one.

Jason and Lucia’s Criminal Profile runs from Professional to Psycho based on how you commit crimes, and hides a hidden level that can become irreversible. Rockstar describes it as a system that judges how you offend, not an honor meter like Red Dead Redemption 2’s.

The unlock happens at 12:00 AM local time in each region, not at a single global hour, so New Zealand will start GTA VI almost a day before America. On Xbox, the classic trick of switching the console’s region to get in early is already making the rounds.

Among the shops and businesses spotted in GTA VI’s promotional material is the Ocean View Hotel: the same Ocean Beach hotel that was Tommy Vercetti’s first safehouse in GTA: Vice City (2002). Seeing it again, modernised, in the same city 24 years later is one of Rockstar’s most direct nods to series veterans. The list of spotted businesses also includes classics like Ammu-Nation and new names like The Rusty Anchor and the Starlet Motel.

Rob Nelson, head of development at Rockstar North, says a complete GTA VI playthrough - including optional objectives - took him around 80 hours. That is well beyond an average GTA V run and puts the game in Red Dead Redemption 2 territory.

Towards the end of GTA VI’s second trailer, a TV ad for an ammunition store features Phil Cassidy, the veteran series character born in Vice City. If his presence is confirmed in the final game, it would be a direct bridge to the original 2002 GTA: Vice City. In that same scene, a PS5 console and its controller sit undisguised on the living-room table: a meta nod, since trailer 2 was captured on a PS5.

GTA VI brings back the sixth wanted level, missing from part of the recent series, and the stars now have colors with their own meaning. The new Heat meter shows what the police know about you (recordings, clothing, weapons, car) and each clue is erased separately.

Lucia Caminos is the series’ first playable female protagonist since it adopted the modern 3D format. She shares the lead with Jason Duval.

Veteran actor Stephen Root (King of the Hill, Barry) confirmed to the Associated Press that he plays Brian Heder, the Keys’ old-school smuggler. He is the first cast member confirmed by an actor: in Root’s own words, the secret slipped because “too many people knew me from my voice.” Rockstar has never officially confirmed any of the game’s performers.

The more than 50 exclusive tattoos in the Ultimate Edition (Electric Fang parlor) do not come from Rockstar’s usual studio: they were designed by FAILE, a real street-art collective from Brooklyn, New York. It is an unusual collaboration between Rockstar and actual contemporary artists, turning Jason and Lucia’s skin into a mini street-art gallery.

Appearing in a GTA trailer boosts any career. As reported by the BBC, Tom Petty’s ‘Love Is a Long Road’ jumped 36,979% in Spotify streams after GTA VI’s first trailer. It is not a one-off: the soundtrack of Rockstar’s trailers has spent years turning classic songs into streaming hits two or three decades after their release.

Rockstar has released no official map figures, but the comparisons used by outlets that played the game are striking: Vice City alone would be twice the size of Los Santos, and with its surrounding countryside GTA V’s urban area would be multiplied by eleven. The map also starts hidden and is only revealed as you explore.

The GTA VI phone includes Waink, an app that scans parked cars and tells you whether they are worth stealing before you touch them. It works alongside BuckMe for banking, RydeMe for getting around Leonida and Snapmatic as a living social network.

A giant statue called Wonder Whale stands in the Leonida Keys. It is Rockstar’s take on Betsy the Lobster, the famous giant lobster of the Florida Keys, one of those absurd roadside monuments scattered across the state. It is one of many real-world references across the map, alongside the Caribbean Club from trailer 2 (the filming location of the 1948 film Key Largo) and the Sahara Arena, the game’s version of the Miami Heat’s arena.
