In trailer 1, an alligator calmly walks through the door of a Leonida convenience store in front of everyone. It is Rockstar’s nod to “Florida Man” headlines: in Leonida, even the wildlife is local.

Trailer 2 is soundtracked by “Hot Together” (1986) by The Pointer Sisters. Jason’s car radio also plays snippets of “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” by Wang Chung, “Child Support” by Zenglen & 5 Etwal and “Talkin’ To Myself Again” by Tammy Wynette.

GTA VI does not take place in a single city: the state of Leonida recreates Florida, with Vice City (Miami), the Leonida Keys (the Florida Keys) and the Grassrivers (the Everglades).

Trailer 2’s song, “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters, has a comedy sci-fi past: it already appeared in “Spaceballs” (1987), Mel Brooks’ parody, and in the buddy cop film “Stakeout”.

One of the first six singles from GTA VI: The Album is “Bright Lights, Big City” sung by Keith Richards: a Rolling Stone covering Jimmy Reed’s 1961 classic for a video game. It is among the album’s most unexpected collaborations.

‘Love Is a Long Road’, from Tom Petty’s 1989 album Full Moon Fever, is the first trailer’s song. Its lyrics about a hard road fit the story of Lucia and Jason.

Guinness World Records certified that the first GTA VI trailer became the most viewed videogame trailer in 24 hours on YouTube, among other platform records.

Lucia Caminos is the series’ first playable female protagonist since it adopted the modern 3D format. She shares the lead with Jason Duval.

The city that headlined GTA: Vice City (2002) returns reinvented in GTA VI (2026). The original game’s name was a tribute to the Miami Vice TV series.

Veteran actor Stephen Root (King of the Hill, Barry) confirmed to the Associated Press that he plays Brian Heder, the Keys’ old-school smuggler. He is the first cast member confirmed by an actor: in Root’s own words, the secret slipped because “too many people knew me from my voice.” Rockstar has never officially confirmed any of the game’s performers.
