GTA Online will keep running after GTA VI launches
Take-Two tells shareholders that GTA 6 is a single-player title and that GTA Online support will continue after its release, "and beyond".
Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that GTA Online will keep getting support after GTA VI launches. At the September 17 shareholder meeting, the company put it this way: “GTA 6 is a single-player title and is due to release this November. We will continue to support GTA Online after GTA 6 release and beyond.”
The line fits what we already knew about the campaign, but it cools hopes of a GTA VI online mode any time soon. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier added in the same context that Take-Two has not talked at all about the new GTA Online, and is not planning to any time soon.
Fans are already theorizing that GTA VI’s online experience will arrive as a separate paid title, with the spotlight and resources of a major launch rather than as an add-on. Nothing is announced yet: what is confirmed is that the current GTA Online will live alongside GTA VI when it releases on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
