GTA VI pre-load: starts November 10 and needs 212 GB free

Anyone who has Grand Theft Auto VI pre-ordered will be able to download it ahead of launch: pre-download on PlayStation 5 starts November 10 at local midnight, Sony announced on the PlayStation Blog. Rockstar’s official store lists the same pre-load start date, so both official sources now agree on November 10, nine days before the November 19 launch.

Storage: at least 212 GB free on PS5

Sony asks players to prepare their console with a minimum of 212 GB of free space for the download. Read it exactly as the source puts it: that is the free space PlayStation recommends having available, not an official figure for the game’s final installed size. If your storage is nearly full, now is the time to delete games you no longer play or consider an upgrade.

How to get ready

According to PlayStation’s official guide, the steps are the expected ones: keep your PlayStation account in order, complete your pre-order and free up enough space. Pre-download unlocks for anyone who has pre-ordered the game on the PlayStation Store. Rockstar’s store, which sells the editions for both platforms, also lists pre-load as starting November 10; Microsoft has not announced a separate date for Xbox Series X|S.

If you buy the physical edition

The GTA VI box contains no disc: inside is a redeemable download code, precisely so physical buyers can pre-load just like digital owners, Rockstar Support confirmed. Physical edition shipping starts November 12.

Editions and official prices

The standard edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99, adding an exclusive collection of vehicles, weapons, apparel and action threaded through Jason and Lucia’s story. These are the official US dollar prices Rockstar announced when pre-orders opened on June 25.

With the pre-load done, the game will be ready to play as soon as it unlocks on November 19, 2026. On Xbox, a specific pre-load date has not been confirmed separately in official sources.
