Rockstar removes the island names from the Vice City Collection map
Hours after fans spotted the Sandbars and Crude Islands on the collection's poster, Rockstar updated the store listing to remove the map labels.
It lasted less than a day. Yesterday we covered how the Vice City Collection poster showed part of the Leonida map for the first time, with two named islands: Sandbars and Crude Islands. Well, according to Dexerto, Rockstar has updated the collection’s store listing and removed the name labels.
Fans caught it almost in real time. The original poster image showed a cluster of four islands on the left side of the map, two of them named. Shortly after the screenshot started circulating on social media, Rockstar uploaded a new version of the image: the four island outlines are still there, but the labels are gone.
The community reaction ranges from mockery to resignation: “those names don’t even reveal anything, Rockstar is trippin for no reason,” one user wrote; “too late now,” replied another. And they have a point: the screenshots are everywhere now, and the names Sandbars and Crude Islands are already part of GTA VI map lore forever.
The episode confirms two things. First, that Rockstar watches minute by minute what the community extracts from every official image. Second, that the full Leonida map remains the best-kept secret of the campaign, and the company intends to keep it that way until it decides otherwise. There are 55 days to go until November 19.
