Take-Two renews its Microsoft publishing deal: this is not GTA VI exclusivity
A September 30 8-K outlines a new agreement for Xbox-compatible products. It does not announce new GTA VI platforms, Game Pass access or release changes.
Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, has renewed its publishing framework with Microsoft. A September 30 Form 8-K reproduced by Stock Titan says the companies entered the new agreement on September 28, with an effective date of September 17, 2026.
It allows Take-Two to develop, publish, manufacture, market, distribute and sell Xbox-compatible products for “all XBOX devices.” It replaces the companies’ previous Xbox publisher license agreements.
What it covers and what it does not announce
The filing’s summary describes wholesale-price payments or revenue sharing for digital products and content sold by Microsoft. It also covers review of game concepts and final versions, packaging and marketing materials featuring Microsoft’s marks, alongside fees and royalties for physical products manufactured for Take-Two.
This is a company publishing agreement, not a GTA VI exclusivity announcement. The summary does not promise Game Pass access, identify a new console or change the game’s announced platforms. The phrase “all XBOX devices” alone does not confirm a GTA VI version for future hardware.
Beebom also describes the news as a renewal of the existing commercial relationship. The new event is its public disclosure, not the beginning of Take-Two’s work with Xbox.
The 8-K provides only a summary. It says the full agreement will be filed as an exhibit to the quarterly report for the period ending September 30. That summary does not specify an exact term beyond describing the agreement as long-term.
