GTA VI will have ride-share fast travel: unique conversations during the ride and a Snapmatic you can browse but not post to

Game Informer's cover story reveals how fast travel works in Leonida: ride-share cars with other passengers, unique chats and read-only social media because Jason and Lucia are on the run.

With a map that doubles GTA V’s and six regions to cross, the big question was how players would get around without spending their lives behind the wheel. The Game Informer cover story has the answer: fast travel in ride-share cars.

The difference from a plain “teleport” is that the ride stays part of the game. You’ll travel with other passengers, with unique conversations along the way, and you can browse Snapmatic, the phone’s photo app, while you ride. The finest detail: Jason and Lucia can check it, but they can’t post, because they’re on the run and can’t leave a trail. Fiction and mechanics go hand in hand.

Taxis already existed in the series as a shortcut, and Red Dead Redemption 2 had a fairly restrictive fast-travel system. GTA VI’s approach points to a middle ground: move fast without entirely skipping the world Rockstar has built, with chats and atmosphere along the way. What’s still unknown are the system’s limits: exactly which points you can travel between and what it will cost in-game.

It fits the idea running through the whole cover story: that moving around Leonida shouldn’t be a chore between missions, but part of the experience.
